Excellence Is What We Are About At Woolacombe School
Woolacombe School is situated in one of the most stunning areas of Britain. We look across rolling hills and fields out to the blue surf and golden beaches of North Devon. It is not just the scenery that sets Woolacombe apart - it is the quality of education that the school provides. We have had another 'OUTSTANDING' commendation with an OFSTED Curriculum Subject Inspection (Feb 2008) and were graded 'OUTSTANDING' in our latest OFSTED inspection (June 2009). Our ICT provides the latest technology to our children in supporting their learning whilst at school. Interactive whiteboards, and a host of multi-media tools all assist in providing a varied and stimulating learning environment.
We now have over sixty laptops and all Key Stage Two children are taught 'Safe Internet' use. Home learning can also be accessed there too!
We have our own 'learner' swimming pool, which the Parent Teacher Association take an active part in fund raising for.
Cited in Her Majesty Inspectors Report, "The Curriculum in Successful Primary Schools", our school is one of the 'best' 31 schools in the country that provide a rich and balanced education and high academic results.
We have an 'OUTSTANDING' Ofsted Report and are in the top 15% of primary schools in England.
Everyone is important at our school and we celebrate our achievements and diversity.
We have 6 classes with 3 Key Stage 2 classrooms in the main building and the infant classrooms overlook their own field and patio area.
We have our own Sports facilities - a Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA for short), with a fitness and adventure trail, and a slide down to it, plus an amphi-theatre and outdoor swimming pool.
During the summer term, the infant children can use it and gain water skills and confidence for their future swim lessons at Ilfracombe Pool.
Sometimes the older children have a swim for a treat, especially when it is very hot.
